Job Description

Help develop the compilers and tools that build the code in the world’s embedded devices. ARM is looking for highly skilled and motivated software engineers with a range of experience to join an established and growing team working on our commercial compiler and toolchain products for embedded devices. Our tools are used across many markets, from automotive to storage and networking and our customers and partners rely on us to support their future successes.

Collaborating with your team and colleagues across the company, you will work on various aspects of our products, including compilers, linkers and libraries. Our tools are based on both proprietary and open source technology, and we contribute many changes back to the open-source LLVM projects. The work will include development of new product features, ongoing maintenance and productization of the toolchain, and enabling customers in new application areas to use ARM technology to its full potential.

Ideally we are looking for someone with an interest in team leadership and/or line management, alongside their engineering responsibilities.

If you have a desire for challenging software development opportunities, then we would like to hear from you!

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Ongoing development and delivery of high-quality, reliable toolchain products to ARM’s partners.
  • Working with other groups in ARM to expand support of the ARM architecture & ARM IP.
  • Contribution to open-source LLVM and related projects.

Job Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Excellent programming skills in C/C++.
  • Experience of developing, testing, delivering, and maintaining production quality software, ideally in a commercial environment.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated, someone who is technically versatile, willing to be flexible and learn new skills that you can apply across multiple types of work.
  • Able to work effectively alone or in a team.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • An interest in leading small teams, or a desire to develop in that area
  • An interest in developing line management responsibilities
  • Understanding of the purpose and structure of compilers, assemblers and linkers.
  • Experience of contributing to an open-source project and working with an open-source community.
  • Experience of handling direct technical contact with customers and third-party software suppliers.

Education & Qualifications
You will need a good degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science / Software Engineering, or an alternative with relevant experience.
