Main Duties and Responsibilities

Scope

Project Manager:

  • You will have the ability to apply expertise as a project manager within the pharma industry to successfully manage projects.
  • You will have working knowledge of project management tools including schedules, communication plans, risk plans, resource plans, scope management tools, action item trackers, and project plans.
  • You will be a strong user of MS Project as a tool to create integrated timelines and monitor project progress.

Senior Project Manager

  • You will have the ability to apply expertise as a project manager within the pharma industry to successfully deliver project and program outcomes while managing stakeholder expectations.
  • You will have a strong knowledge of project management tools including schedules, communication plans, risk plans, resource plans, scope management tools, action item trackers, and project plans.
  • You will be a strong user of MS Project as a tool to create integrated timelines and monitor project progress.
  • You will maintain a high level of expertise in the field of project management and within the pharma industry through review of current scientific, professional and business literature, and attendance and participation at professional conferences.

Position Summary

Leads and manages commercial, technical and site projects of medium to high complexity, as assigned.

Essential Job Functions all Project Managers:

  • You will lead the project core team and ensure team effectiveness. You will be accountable for the delivery of the project on time, on budget, aligned with the expectations of key project stakeholders. You wil lead low complexity strategic programs.
  • You will work with the project sponsor to develop the project charter and ensure that projects deliver expected business outcomes.
  • You will lead the project core team to create integrated project plans including scope, schedule, risk and communication plans.
  • You will ensure the project team follows site project governance processes. You will act as an advocate to support PMO processes.
  • You will monitor and control the project to ensure delivery. You will utilize critical path methodology (CPM) to track and deliver on the project schedule. You will leverage current risk management tools and techniques to identify, mitigate and manage project risk.
  • You will lead projects through stage-gating process with site Portfolio Steering Committee.
  • You will understand and manage key integration points with other projects and efforts in the enterprise. You will work with Site Project Management Director, functional management and governance teams to resolve conflicts and issues between projects.
  • You will contribute to the maturation of project management capabilities at the site through lessons learned, enhancements to the PM tool kit, and additions to the PM knowledgebase. Also, lead specific maturation efforts within the department or across the site.
  • You will ensure administrative and financial closure of assigned projects.
  • You will be expected to lead multiple project teams.

Commercial Project Managers (Site Product Steward Role):

  • You will manage commercial projects (commercial support teams) in conjunction with the Director of Commercial Project Management.
  • You will develop an annual resource plan and schedule for site product support deliverables for assigned products.
  • You will work with product core and working teams to ensure delivery of annual goals, resolution of issues and ongoing product support including quality and regulatory compliance.
  • You will ensure maintenance of product knowledge repositories through the product support team.
  • You will highlight product support risks and issues to site governance teams.

Sr. Commercial Project Managers (Site Product Steward Role):

  • You will develop an annual resource plan and schedule for site product support deliverables for assigned products.
  • You will work with product core and working teams to ensure delivery of annual goals, resolution of issues and ongoing product support including quality and regulatory compliance.
  • You will ensure maintenance of product knowledge repositories through the product support team.
  • You will highlight product support risks and issues to site governance teams.
  • You will understand and manage key integration points with other efforts in the enterprise.
  • You will work with Site Project Management Director, functional management and governance teams to resolve conflicts and issues between products.
  • You will drive continuous improvement of the product support model. You will establish new processes where needed to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.

Technical Project Managers:

  • You will manage technical projects (Tech Transfer, Process Characterization, Process Validation/PPQ) in conjunction with a Team Leader.
  • You will develop industry and technical expertise through review of current scientific literature, participation in site technical development, and attendance and participation at conferences.

Sr. Technical Project Managers:

  • You will lead technical (Tech Transfer, Process Characterization, Process Validation/PPQ) projects.
  • You will maintain high level of industry and technical expertise through review of current scientific literature, submissions to scientific journals, leading site technical development efforts, and attendance and participation at conferences.

    You will drive continuous improvement in the technical project models (Tech Transfer, PC, PV/PPQ). You will establish new processes where needed to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.

Essential Requirements

Experience/Education

  • BS in Engineering or Science

    MS or MBA is preferred, but not required

  • 5-8 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech.
  • 5-8 years of project management experience.
  • Manufacturing, MST, or CM&C PM experience required.

    Project Management Certification is a plus but not required

Technical PM: Tech Transfer experience a strong plus.
Commercial PM: Commercial product experience a strong plus.

Sr. Technical PM: Direct experience leading execution of tech transfer projects a strong plus.

Sr. Commercial PM: Direct experience leading commercial support teams a strong plus.

Problem Solving

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve complex business problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where little standardization exists.

    Ability to facilitate technical problem solving. Experience with problem solving and decision making tools a plus.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, team members and partners.
  • Ability to effectively frame and present information to senior leadership.
  • Outlook, Internet Explorer, MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word
  • Experience with project management enterprise systems such as SAP, Primavera, MS Server a plus.
