The post holder will ensure that Health & Safety functions are managed in order to satisfy strategic intent and the requirements of the law.

Here's what you can expect to be doing

  • Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation
  • Adopting Industry Best Practice where possible
  • Ensuring incidents are reported and investigated
  • Production of Key Performance Indicators
  • Promotion of Health and Safety Culture 
  • Reporting and communication with Insurance companies/Solicitors and Loss Adjusters
  • Supporting Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives 
  • Producing Audit programs
  • Conduct Audits against statutory requirements, individual departments and random inspections
  • Completing System Performance reviews
  • Ensure suitable and sufficient Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work are produced and incorporated 
  • Producing COSHH assessment
  • Conducting Accident Investigations
  • Ensuring new or modified Processes/sites comply with Health and Safety Requirements
  • Conducting Fire Risk Assessments
  • Production and Implementation of Emergency Procedures
  • Carry out noise, light and workplace assessments
  • Understanding of HAVS 
  • Knowledge of Statutory Inspections and training requirements
  • CDM 2015 Knowledge and Practical experience
  • Interpretations of Occupational Health Assessments
  • Application of the requirements Included in the CAR regulations 2012
  • Development of documented Health and Safety systems

    Minimum qualified knowledge, skills and experience required to do the jobKnowledge
  • Knowledge and good understanding of UK and EU Health and Safety Law
  • Diploma / NVQ5 or Equivalent in Health and Safety
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety
  • NEBOSH Certificate In National Fire Safety and Risk Management
  • Internal Auditor Qualified OH&S 18001
  • Asbestos Management and Awareness P405
  • Must have Continued Professional Development
  • IT literate
  • RPE Fit to Fit Testing
  • Professional Membership of Health and Safety Body
  • Skills
  • Team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator.
  • Self motivated.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • People skills necessary to manage others in order to complete necessary work tasks.
  • Methodical and precise in nature with good attention to detail.
  •  Experience
  • Broad range of experience within High Risk Manufacturing Environments
  • Minimum 5 years working within a senior Health & Safety Role
  • Experience of Machinery safety a must
  • DSEAR experience
  • Heavy Goods Transport experience and knowledge
  • Contractor assessment and controls
  • Delivery of IOSH training Courses
  • Experience within a Recycling Environment advantages
