Job Description

This is a tremendous opportunity to become a part of the Arm Cambridge Design Centre. You will join a small and talented team enjoying the opportunity to innovate and make significant contributions, whilst employing leading-edge technologies and methodologies. This successful team has been central to the development of recent products including Cortex-A53 and Cortex-A55 (both are big-LITTLE CPUs), through to the smallest and most energy efficient processors such as Cortex-M0+.

This role not only involves working closely with our RTL design and verification teams to drive RTL development for next generation processors, but also with Sales and Marketing; customer support; physical library development; and our external software EDA vendors.

The physical implementation team is actively working on leading-edge transistor processes (eg 7/16nm FinFET) and more mature nodes (eg 28/40nm and larger) to suit customer requirements.

This role is for an engineering position in the CPU Physical Implementation activity at Arm.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities include:

  • physical implementation of Arm processors

  • investigation of the tradeoffs involved in CPU implementation

  • development and deployment of new methodologies to improve efficiency of physical implementation

  • customer interaction including sales and support

  • realising R&D concepts


  • candidates will have a university degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or other relevant technical discipline.


  • excellent communication skills: listening, understanding, persuading

  • the ability to effectively work alone as well as in a team

  • good analytical skills along with the ability to “think out of the box”

  • knowledge of Unix, Perl, Python, Tcl and VHDL/Verilog would be useful but not required
