The SAP Delivery Manager will operate principally regionally but on work that can either be regional or part of a global project. Manage projects focused on delivering SAP Solutions and lead teams of functional consultants, developers and architects to scope, design, build, test and deliver solutions in a global, matrix organization.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the SAP delivery aspect of customer projects, working closely with business change and other parts of the Project
  • Own and manage SAP internal projects
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Assist in the definition of SAP Project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Ensure resources are confirmed with Capability Leads to support project efforts
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the SAP Project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Manage the SAP Release Governance process as and when required
  • Ensure Project alignment with Release Management and compliance with use of the SolMan toolset
  • Monitor and control using Solution Manager and other tools ensuring data is kept up to date reflecting decisions made in Release Governance
  • Ensure process is in place and actively update tools such as Estimates and Plans in TM1

Essential Skills and experience

  • Typically, more than 8 years’ overall experience with SAP technologies
  • Having SAP background beyond Project Management, for example in a functional or technical area (e.g. FI/CO, SD, PP, ABAP)
  • Demonstrated experience in large program/upgrade
  • Demonstrated expertise with respect to project and SAP technical change and release management with full awareness of Solution Manager and central role it has with respect to SAP management
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development in SAP environment (e.g. transport management)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience necessary to work in globally distributed, complex organization, with good spoken and written English skills
  • Ability to guide and lead a team through challenges faced in highly customized SAP environments with distributed ownership
  • Ability to understand and support integration with non-SAP systems
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail, timeliness and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, including but not limited to Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint
  • Experience in a validated environment and aware of GXP and SOX requirements.
  • Willingness to Travel when required

Desirable Skills and experience

  • Hands on experience of using Solution Manager to support Change and Release Management (SOLDOC, ChaRM, BPCA, CBTA etc.)
  • PMP / PRINCE II certification (or equivalent) and/or Agile/Lean certification
  • Experience working in a shared service environment


Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent


Pharma or Manufacturing preferred
