Head of Product, Logistics Just Eat
It's our job to understand and serve the Just Eat customer. Who are the people that come to Just Eat to buy their meals online? What do they need? What can we do to make their experiences better? Our Technology department is revolutionising the way people interact with food online every day by exploring new channels, such as voice-controlled ordering and virtual reality. Our team also collaborates with other internal departments to make sure our products and tech are tailor made from top insights and industry expertise.
This fantastic Head of Product opportunity will own and lead Just Eat's global Food Delivery Product Strategy; running multiple product streams and Product Managers. This is a high profile, global role with the opportunity to make a significant impact across the business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for multiple teams in Just Eat's newest Product area and will play a key part in leading this strategic project. They will be working alongside the Head of Engineering and Head of Delivery to ensure Just Eat builds a scalable and world class range of products to support our food delivery capabilities.
We are looking for an experienced “Head of” who can take our products to the next level – someone who is inspired by the problem space and not just the solution. Our ideal candidate is an original thinker with a highly creative mind, makes data driven product decisions, has excellent communication skills, business acumen and strong vision.
The successful candidate will need to have track record of successfully delivering large scale data products and have demonstrated excellent organisational and leadership skills.
They should be able to think, innovate, constructively challenge the status quo and see the bigger picture, developing and implementing robust strategic plans.
Strategy - responsible for defining the product roadmap & strategy to support business growth and strategic objectives whilst meeting customer needs.
Leadership - responsible for building & growing a world class data product management organisation and representing the product team across the whole of Just Eat.
Product development excellence - responsible for nurturing Product development excellence within the product team and across Just Eat globally.
Team management - responsible for coaching and developing their team leads and direct reports. Ensure team members are clear on their areas of responsibility and accountability, and use consistent practices to develop valuable products.
Budget management - work with relevant stakeholders to define and implement a process for assessing and reporting the commercial impact of product delivery.
Supports product roadmap - helps drive cross-stream strategic product roadmap, in conjunction with Technology leadership, as well as own strategic initiatives. You’ll provide active support to all Delivery Managers on Roadmap and measurement best practice. You will actively work to re-frame objectives in a clear manner to surface new understanding within the team and hence new opportunities to deliver more business value.
Defines and trains best practice - works with the Product Guild to define best practice on requirements capture and sharing within company. Comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels of the company to capture requirements, and identify new areas of external expertise as required. Defines and runs multiple product training sessions, working with HR to define internal & external product training requirements. Contributes to industry events as a representative of JE, presents at conferences, actively shares industry trends and learnings with colleagues and organises cross-team trend & industry knowledge learning sessions.
Testing and discovery backlog - expert in A/B testing and prototyping best practice. Maintains strategic discovery backlog of innovations - both sustainable and disruptive. Shares learnings from innovation tests across technology team.
Reporting product performance - expert on reporting product performance and identifying correct metrics / measurements to report on (as well as avoiding vanity metrics). Expert in lean analytics practice as well as deeper business metrics. Works to deliver strategic business value product improvements across teams.
Trusted authority and specialist - The Principal will be a trusted authority and specialist in one or more technology areas of critical importance to JUST EAT. They will be someone that members and managers of other teams turn to for advice and guidance.
COG leadership - act as the leader of one or more Coherence and Ownership Groups (COGs) to provide a strategy and roadmap, which works in cooperation with functional teams to deliver on current and future objectives.
Continuous improvement - ensure that their discipline continuously improves by initiating new processes and practices. They will then use their influence, and the respect others hold them in, to have them implemented more widely across teams.
Consultancy - provide consultancy to any of the Technology teams where required. As part of this they may be called upon during acquisitions, partnerships and divestments, to participate in due diligence activities relating to their discipline.
Recruitment - participate in the recruitment within their discipline, including sitting on panels and setting and reviewing projects.
Innovation - identify innovation opportunities related to their discipline and will promote these to the Directors, Heads and Managers of Technology.
Communicate - evangelise the work of their team to other teams and potentially publically (blogs / speaking etc). Communicates across many levels of the company, and also externally, in a clear, concise manner.
Professional Development- actively looks for opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge using internal and external sources. Keeps up to date with latest industry trends.
Experience in building complex products from the ground up
Experience in developing mid-long term product strategy
Proven success in delivering online products and services in a high growth environment.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
Strengths in problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline-driven work environment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives.

Excellent understanding of wider industry trends in their area of expertise - technical and/or product
Commercial product management experience in large technology focused companies desirable
Regularly identifies new strategic options, framing them with a business case & key hypotheses to be validated.
Frames & creates strategic product vision that can affect business direction. Also understands impact that can have to day to day business - the difference between optimisation & disruptive innovation.
Well developed communication skills, including public speaking.
Excellent understanding of how to coach others and how to drive a high performance culture
Proven track record of excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills
People management and team leadership experience
