As an international specialist insurer we are far removed from the world of mass market insurance products. Instead we are selective and focus on our key areas of expertise and strength - all of which is underpinned by a culture that encourages us to challenge convention and always look for a better way of doing things.
We insure the unique and the interesting. And we search for the same when it comes to talented people. Hiscox is full of smart, reliable human beings that look out for customers and each other. We believe in doing the right thing, making good and rebuilding when things go wrong. Everyone is encouraged to think creatively, challenge the status quo and look for solutions.
Scratch beneath the surface and you will find a business that is solid, but slightly contrary. We like to do things differently and constantly seek to evolve. We might have been around for a long time (our roots go back to 1901), but we are young in many ways, ambitious and going places.
Some people might say insurance is dull, but life at Hiscox is anything but. If that sounds good to you, get in touch.

About the team/division
Hiscox Special Risks is the business unit within Hiscox responsible for developing and underwriting specialist products aimed at protecting what matters most: people and the assets they care passionately about. Our people are from a wide variety of backgrounds, and spread across many geographies. The European team currently underwrites from Cologne, Hamburg, Madrid and Paris. Whilst spread far, there is a strong ethic of team work and collegiate support.
Our products include: Kidnap & Ransom insurance, High Value Assets insurance and Security Incident Response insurance. Hiscox is the global leader for Kidnap & Ransom insurance, writing the business for over twenty five years, and with a long term partnership with Control Risks over the same period. We are looking to recruit a person to support our underwriters in Madrid and Paris and provide further bandwidth to the team during busy renewal periods as well as allowing them to further develop the business.
This is a new role in an area of the business that has seen some recent changes. The ambition of the European team is to protect the current portfolio and grow the business to our 2020 objectives. Once trained in the product, you will be underwriting, pricing and negotiating accounts with both French and Spanish brokers. This will be both renewing the existing portfolio as well as helping to meet new business targets, whilst providing the top level service that has come to be expected of the Special Risk team. Product and market specific training will be provided on the job by other members of the underwriting team.
