Position: Actuarial Analyst
Location: Primary - Atlanta; Secondary - White Plains NY
As an international specialist insurer we are far removed from the world of mass market insurance products. Instead we are selective and focus on our key areas of expertise and strength - all of which is underpinned by a culture that encourages us to challenge convention and always look for a better way of doing things.
We insure the unique and the interesting. And we search for the same when it comes to talented people. Hiscox is full of smart, reliable human beings that look out for customers and each other. We believe in doing the right thing, making good and rebuilding when things go wrong. Everyone is encouraged to think creatively, challenge the status quo and look for solutions.
Scratch beneath the surface and you will find a business that is solid, but slightly contrary. We like to do things differently and constantly seek to evolve. We might have been around for a long time (our roots go back to 1901), but we are young in many ways, ambitious and going places.
Some people might say insurance is dull, but life at Hiscox is anything but. If that sounds good to you, get in touch.

Role, Team & Responsibilities:
What is the role:
The Actuarial Analyst will report to the Business Unit Actuary and will be responsible for supporting all actuarial processes on behalf of Hiscox USA. This includes management reporting, reserving studies, profitability and pricing / ratemaking analysis, predictive modeling, analysis of reinsurance structure and other special projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Actuarial team of the fastest growing Hiscox business unit. In this role you will be exposed to a wide variety of projects, have an opportunity to interact with senior stakeholders and see how your work makes a difference in the business.
The role is best suited for someone who is comfortable in an environment where variety and change is the norm. You will have the opportunity to create from scratch and will not be “pushing a button” in a repetitive process.
You will be expected to embrace the team’s objectives and actively seek out opportunities to improve existing processes, offer your own ideas and insights and take a point of view on questions relating to the business, as well as provide innovative ways to deliver analysis, while adhering to actuarial best practices and ensuring excellent communication with all stakeholders.
We are looking for someone who is bright and enjoys the challenge, is willing to learn and push themselves outside of their comfort zone.
