What do we need from you?

We're looking for University students who need a placement year and are self-motivated, inquisitive and aren't afraid to push the boundaries. If you're bright and like to think creatively, we'll give you all the coaching and support you require to reach your potential. In order to be considered, you will need to be on track to receive at least a 2:1 (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant degree subject and:

  • You take an organised approach to planning and prioritising your own workload when faced with multiple priorities simultaneously

  • You have solid communication and presentation skills

  • You are a self-starter and are self-motivating

  • You have an aptitude for learning and problem solving

Our 1 year intern placement offers opportunity for a dedicated year in an area in IT, including:

  • List clearly on your cover letter or CV which area of IT (per below descriptions) you are applying for , and why:

  • IT Software Development

Below are some examples of some of the roles that you will undertake as part of the Intern placement :

IT Software Development

  • Front-end Developer

  • Full Stack Web Developer

  • Functional Tester

  • API Developer

You'll build capabilities, and learn:

  • HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and principles of responsive web design.

  • Back-end applications and API development experience in Java / SpringBoot / Mulesoft

  • To build high quality code and test it at different levels (unit, functional and regression)

  • To build secure, flexible and reusable web applications

  • Modern application infrastructure, such as Virtualisation, Docker containers, Infrastructure as Code and cloud services (IaaS, PaaS,Saas)

  • Continuous integration (CI) and deployment (CD) practices and to use the appropriate tools like Jenkins and / or TeamCity.

Agile Delivery

Agile Delivery focuses on these main capabilities:

  • Commercial Awareness - we will build your corporate awareness by helping you understand the 'bigger picture' and how what Arm IT delivers fits into the wider Arm agenda

  • Stakeholder Management - you will learn how to; manage stakeholders with conflicting priorities, handle the expectations of key parties and choose the best techniques to use when communicating with people at all levels

  • Data Management - we will teach you how we manage data, analyse data, and how we use data to show our progress

  • Process modelling - we will give you the tools to capture requirements accurately and relay them backto our development teams to ensure product delivery is accurate

  • Communication Skills - Agile is all about delighting our customers, communication is key to this, you will have the opportunity to improve your, written, verbal and nonverbal communication skills, using a number of platforms and communication tools

The above capabilities will be developed in a variety of roles such as (but not limited to!):

  • Scrum Master

  • Portfolio Analyst

  • Business Change Analyst

  • Business Analyst

  • Delivery Analyst

Service Operations

Service Operation's aim is to make sure that IT Services are delivered effectively and efficiently to our customers and partners. These services can range from desktop hardware and infrastructure services such as Networks and storage, all the way being part of the team who partner with our strategic outsourced partners who provide our Service Desk and other core services.

You'll build capabilities in:

  • Service Design

  • Service Governance and Integration

  • Service Integration and Management

  • Infrastructure Services

  • Project Management

  • Service Management

  • Commercial Awareness

Security

Are you passionate about playing a part in building a world-class information security program? Do you want to help safeguard a global tech company from the latest cyber threats? Can you help meet challenging security and compliance requirements? Arm's Enterprise Security team is seeking bright enthusiastic intern s that are excited to be part of a rapidly growing team in a fast-moving cyber-security world.
